This is a website that I designed and developed for a company Nanogear, Inc. based in Sunnyvale, CA. (www.nanogear.com).

The company designs MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technology for use in optical networking switches. Basically these things are ultra-tiny mirrors that are used to direct and bounce around the laser light that is used to carry telecommunications signals. Really cool, cutting-edge stuff.

Roughly my brief for the job was to scope, design, illustrate and create the company website. All this in less than two weeks, since it had to be ready in time for senior execs to start reperesenting the company at major industry conferences.

As with many projects I undertake, I like to bring some 3d imagery to the table. In this instance, I was able to recreate the amazing MEMS mirrors technology as 3d models. These could then be used for any number of purposes - as generic imagery, for animation, for illustration purposes, etc.

The design idea we arrived at was to make a bold statement about the company's purpose by integrating the MEMS mirror right into the content of the website's front page. No wishy-washy mission statements for these guys - they mean business!
